After Red Tails, George Lucas kept saying that he was going to be retiring from big budget filmmaking to focus on smaller, more personal films, and now it’s official— Lucas is stepping from the day-to-day operations of Lucasfilm and will be succeeded by producer and long-time Lucas collaborator Kathleen Kennedy.
Should be interesting to see what potentially comes from this change, though I don’t know why George Lucas could make these small, more personal films while still in charge at Lucasfilm.
